河野太郎外相は２０日午前の記者会見で、韓国軍が竹島（島根県隠岐の島町）を「防衛」するための海兵隊部隊創設を進めていることに怒りを爆発させた。

　河野氏は外務省が韓国政府に強く抗議したことを明らかにした上で、緊迫度を増す北朝鮮情勢を念頭に「こういう安全保障状況の中、日米韓３カ国が未来志向で関係性を強めていかなければいけないときに、それに逆行することだ」と韓国政府を批判。

　その上で、「先般の日米韓外務次官会議でも連携強化の重要性を協議し、合意している。この事態にあって、日米韓の連携を強めていきたい」と述べた。
